Nau mai haere mai i Te Kura o Cloverlea!
Starting kura is a special time for you and your tamaiti (child). We look forward to a long and happy association with your whānau.
The following information will answer some of your questions. Please do not hesitate to contact kura if you need any more information.
Preparing for School:
Approximately a term ahead of starting school a letter of welcome, which includes pre-enrolment information, will be sent out.
This letter will invite you to bring your child to join us for two pre-school programmes.
1. Transition to School Programme (Little LEGENDS):
Three weeks prior to your child starting school your child will be welcomed to our Transition to School Programme. This group will help your child, and their parents/caregivers, to get to know other parents of children starting school, become familiar with their peers, and begin to learn how to be a Cloverlea LEGEND. We run the programme on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm.
2. School Visits in the classroom:
Pre-schoolers attend their school visits 3 weeks before they turn 5. School visits are on Thursday morning.
8.30am-11.00am First visit
8.30am-12.50pm Second visit
8.30am-3.00pm Third visit
These visits involve children in a variety of classroom activities. It provides an opportunity for the children to socialise with other children in their class and become familiar with class routines.
Whānau are welcome to stay with their child on the first visit but we encourage you to leave your child on the following visits to allow your child the opportunity to develop independence and a rapport with their kaiako (teacher).
On turning five – Enrolment:
Please ensure you bring the following completed documents to the office:
Whānau Partnership:
You will have the opportunity for a parent/teacher conference to discuss your child’s progress at
school when your LEGEND has been at school for about 6-8 weeks and again at 6 and 12 months. Seesaw is our main way of reporting and sharing our LEGENDs learning.
Teachers are happy to talk informally with you before and after school but this is also a busy time for teachers, with LEGENDs arriving at school, so if you need more time please arrange another time.
