Unveiling our Tomokanga

Early on the morning of Saturday 25th October, our beautiful tomokanga was unveiled. The ceremony took place at 5:30 in the morning to symbolise te ao hou, the new dawn. A fitting time for unveiling a tomokanga, which stands as a gateway to new beginnings, learning and the continued growth of our kura.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by approximately 200 guests, including representatives from Rangitāne Iwi who led the official unveiling. Water from the Waikato Awa and Raiatea was used to bless the tomokanga before it was revealed to the community.

The morning concluded with a delicious parakuihi (breakfast) in the horo.
