Enrolment
New Entrant Enrolment
Starting school is a special time for you and your child. We look forward to a long and happy association with your family.
The following information will answer some of your questions. Please do not hesitate to contact either Chris Hutchinson (Deputy Principal) or Leiana Lambert (Principal) if you need any more information.
Preparing for School
Approximately a term ahead of starting school a letter of welcome, which includes pre-enrolment information, will be sent out.
This letter will invite you to bring your child to join us for two pre-school programmes.
1 Transition to School Programme (Little LEGENDS):
Six weeks prior to your child starting school your child will be welcomed to our Transition to School Programme. This group will help your child, and their parents/caregivers, to get to know other parents of children starting school, become familiar with their peers, and to engage in some basic literacy and numeracy. We run the programme on Monday afternoons from 2.00-3.00.
2 School Visits:
Pre-schoolers attend their school visits 3 weeks before they turn 5. School visits are on Thursday morning.
8.30-11.00am First visit
8.30-12.50am Second visit
8.30-3.00 am Third visit
These visits involve children in a variety of classroom activities. It provides an opportunity for the children to socialise with other children in their class and become familiar with class routines.
Parents are welcome to stay with their child on the first visit but we encourage you to leave your child on the following visits to allow your child the opportunity to develop independence and a rapport with the classroom teacher.
On turning five – Enrolment
Please ensure you have completed the following:
An enrolment form
Parent Cyber Safety Declaration
The school is required to hold a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunisation record. We will copy this for you.
The enrolment form and the parent cyber safety declaration will be given to you at your child’s first Chickadees session.
Could you hand all these into the office before your child starts school please.
Home/School Communication
You will have the opportunity for a parent/teacher conference to discuss your child’s progress at
school when your child has been at school for about 6-8 weeks and again at 6 and 12 months.
Teachers are happy to talk informally with you before and after school but this is also a busy time for teachers, with children arriving at school, so if you need more time please arrange another time.
Meeting for Parents of New Children
Once a term, a meeting will be held where parents of prospective new enrolments or new Enrolments will be invited to gather for an hour to meet each other informally.
You will be given basic information about the school especially related to the junior area.
